Suspect Charged for March Fatal Crash in Versailles

NORTH VERSAILLES, PA – One person died at the hospital after a two-car collision in March and this week, police made an arrest in that case.

According to police reports, on March 2, at approximately 10:52 p.m., County 9-1-1 was notified of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Congress Street in North Versailles.

“First responders found that a Dodge Caravan struck a Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The Dodge was driven by a 24-year-old male driver and a 22-year-old female was a passenger. The Ford was driven by a 59-year-old male driver. All three occupants were taken to area hospitals. The operator of the Ford, John Semenko, died at the hospital. The occupants of the Dodge Caravan were in stable condition following the collision,” police reported at the time.


Police investigators determined that 24-year-old Shamar Roach of Glassport was the operator of the Dodge and responsible for the collision.

“Investigators obtained a warrant for Roach’s arrest, and Roach turned himself into authorities today at 1:50 p.m.,” the Allegheny County Police Department reported. “Roach was charged with offenses related to the crash to include homicide by vehicle, homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person, and reckless driving. A mugshot is not currently available.”
