Cumberland Crime Blotter: Arrests and Warrants

CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department has issued the following police blotter reports regarding incidents that involved police response over the past several days. These incidents were reported and released as-is by the department. The CPD responds to numerous calls per day for police service. This list does not represent all calls for service during that period. The CPD reminds residents that all suspects listed in this police blotter are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Cumberland Police served an Arrest Warrant on Daryl Alan Hoyt, age 64, of Cumberland, MD. The Warrant was issued by Washington County, MD charging Hoyt with Fail to Appear at a court for traffic charges. He was taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner and released on his own recognizance.

The Cumberland Police served an Arrest Warrant on Gerald Charles Knorr, age 62, of Albany, NY. The Warrant charged Knorr with Fail to Appear for a Disorderly Conduct charge from 2018. Knorr was originally charged on June 16, 2018 due to a disturbance that he caused inside of a Queen City Drive business, where he refused to leave and made several derogatory remarks to customers and staff. At that time, he was issued a Criminal Citation and released. Knorr was placed under arrest for the outstanding Warrant and taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner. He was held on $5,000 bond.

Assault Arrest

On August 18, 2022 Officers with the Cumberland Police were called to the Canal St area for a report of a male with handgun that was threatening several people, including juveniles in the area. Upon arrival Officers were directed to Jeremiah Daniel Martin, age 38 of Cumberland, MD. Witnesses on the scene stated that Martin had pointed a handgun in their direction and made threats to kill them. They fled the area and returned once Police were on scene. They then advised that he had possibly placed the gun the bag of a female that was near him. A BB gun was located inside the female’s bag and it was identified as the gun that was pointed towards them. The victims believed it to be a real handgun at the time. The BB gun was black and made to resemble a real handgun. Based on these statements and the BB gun that was located, Martin was placed under arrest. During a search of his person, following his arrest, a capsule of suspected fentanyl and suboxone was located. He was charged with (4) counts of 1st Degree Assault, (4) counts of Second Degree Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace and (2) counts of Possession of CDS-Not Marijuana. Martin was taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner and held without bond.

Charges: (4) counts of 1st Degree Assault, (4) counts of Second Degree Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace and (2) counts of Possession of CDS-Not Marijuana.

Criminal Summons

The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Daniel Keith Gibson, age 26, of Cumberland, MD. The Summons charged Gibson with Theft $100 to less than $1,500. The charges were the result of an investigation on August 17, 2022 where Gibson stole a lawnmower from a business on the 200 block of N. Mechanic St. He was released pending trial.

The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Mary Concetta Yoder, age 46, of Cumberland, MD. The Summons charged Yoder with Theft Less than $100 following an investigation on August 12, 2022 where Yoder was alleged to have shoplifted from a Park St business. She was released pending trial.

The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Nicholas Craig Moreland, age 31 of Cumberland MD. The Summons charged Moreland with Malicious Destruction of Property from an incident that occurred on August 14, 2022. Video footage showed Moreland breaking a window on a Park St business. He was released pending trial.
