Princess Plaza is a social network that operates out of Western Baltimore and police said those arrested were linked to 5 murders in the city.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said the arrests are part of an overall citywide effort to reduce violent crime in the city.

“We’ve made more arrests to date than the same time last year,” Harrison said. ” Those who commit violent acts will be held to account, and these arrests are the first in many in sharing our progress and commitment to the mayor’s group violence reduction strategy and by using all the tools available in both our short-term and long-term crime strategies to reduce violent crimes in our city.”

On Aug. 23, the department announced the arrests of several members of the Princess Plaza social network. The group operated in the Princess Plaza at Edmondson in the 2800 block of Edmondson Ave. in W. Baltimore. This two-month-long investigation was a targeted enforcement initiative of the Group Violence Reduction Strategy and resulted in criminal charges for 12 members, including two 17-year-old males.

“These Princess Plaza arrests, along with our ongoing efforts to interrupt cycles of violence represent a success in the continued GVRS strategy, which is currently being piloted in the BPD’s Western District. Year-to-date, the Western District has seen a 33% decrease in homicides and an 18% reduction in non-fatal shootings,” said Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott.
