TOMS RIVER, NJ – Police in Toms River are investigating after multiple people were shot inside a hookah lounge in Toms River shopping plaza at 1791 Hooper Avenue overnight.
Gunfire broke out at the plaza at around 2 am. The Toms River Police Department did not confirm how many casualties were involved, but ambulances were seen taking patients to nearby hospitals.
The Toms River Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office were on scene conducting an investigation after the shooting.
Multiple casings were found at the scene.
The site is home to the Top Tier Hookah Lounge. Witnesses report two Hispanic males were responsible for the shooting. They fled the scene and fled north in a silver vehicle.
Early reports indicate at least two people were shot and one was reported in critical condition. The suspects remain at large at this time.
