Routine traffic stop leads to felony drug charges in Newark

NEWARK, DE – a routine traffic stop in N Delaware, led to the arrest of a Dover man on multiple felony drug charges.

According to the Delaware State Police, 54-year-old Erminio Ferri was arrested on felony drug charges following a traffic stop that occurred in the Newark area on Thursday evening.

A police report issued by the Delaware State Police alleged on Thursday, at approximately 6:45 p.m., troopers on patrol observed a black Chrysler 300 sedan traveling eastbound on Chestnut Hill Road in the area of Marrows Road.

“Troopers noticed that the vehicle had a fictitious registration displayed, and a traffic stop was conducted on the Chrysler on Chestnut Hill Road. Contact was made with the operator of the vehicle, later identified as Erminio Ferri, and troopers detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the interior of the car,” police said. “A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 37.16 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 8.9 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.”


Ferri was taken into custody at the scene without incident. He was transported to Troop 6 and charged with multiple drug charges.
