Frederick Police Meet with Afghan Refugees Who Settled in City

Your News

by Frederick Police Dept.

This evening we attended a beautiful event hosted by the Asian American Center of Frederick to welcome Afghani refugees to our city. We’re in awe of their stories of leaving their homeland for America and we spent the evening interacting to help them get to know and be comfortable around our police officers.

Officer Long, who served in Afghanistan, provided a demo of our K-9 unit and helped them understand the role of K-9s on the police force.

We want to shout out Office Aylward, our liaison to the Asian American community, who worked closely with the center to organize our attendance at the event, and Cpl. Sullivan (another veteran who served in Afghanistan) and OFC Lee for their attendance and welcoming our new residents to the community.

A special thanks to Tulip Grill Mediterranean Restaurant for providing the delicious food this evening. And finally, welcome to the residents who have come to Frederick and are calling it home. We’re thrilled to be a positive and welcoming part of your story.
