Cumberland Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department has issued the following police blotter reports regarding incidents that involved police response over the past several days. These incidents were reported and released as-is by the department. The CPD responds to numerous calls per day for police service. This list does not represent all calls for service during that period. The CPD reminds residents that all suspects listed in this police blotter are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On September 1st, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served an Arrest Warrant on James West IV. The Arrest Warrant was issued by both Circuit Court on August 18th, 2022. West was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center where he was held without bond.

Arrest: James Nathaniel West IV, age 30, Washington DC.
Charges: Numerous Possession not Marijuana Violations.


On September 1st, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served an Arrest Warrant on Zakkery Grady. The Arrest Warrant was issued by the District Court when Grady failed to appear for his trial on August 17th, 2022. Grady was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center.

Arrest: Zakkery Sabastian Grady, age 29, Cumberland Maryland.
Charge: Failure to Appear.

On September 1st, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served two Arrest Warrants on Brian Johnson. The Arrest Warrants were issued by the District Court when Johnson failed to appear for his trial on April 16th, 2021. Johnson was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released on

Arrest: Brian Elsworth Johnson, age 58, Cumberland Maryland.
Charges: Two Counts of Failure to Appear.

Criminal Summons Served

On September 1st, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on Jeremiah Martin. The Criminal Summons was issued by the District Court stemming from a theft investigation on August 31st, 2022. During the investigation officers responded to a business in the 200 block of Greene Street and spoke with employees. The officer conducted their investigation and learned that Martin had taken items from the business without paying. Martin signed for his Criminal Summons and was released pending his trial at District Court.

Arrest: Jeremiah Daniel Martin, age 38, Cumberland Maryland.
Charge: Theft Less than $100.

On September 1st, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on Daniel Gibson III. The Criminal Summons was issued by the District Court stemming from a theft investigation on August 27th, 2022. During the investigation officers responded to a business in the 200 block of Greene Street and spoke with employees. The officer conducted their investigation and learned that Gibson had taken items from the business without paying for them. Gibson signed for his Criminal Summons and was released pending his trial at District Court.

Arrest: Daniel Keith Gibson III, age 26, Cumberland Maryland.
Charge: Theft Less than $100.
