Idaho’s largest city and capital is hosting a Pride festival featuring a children’s drag queen show and sponsored by several major American corporations, according to the festival website.

Pride Boise in Boise, Idaho, is a three-day LGBTQ event from Sept. 9 to 11 featuring activities such as “Drag Story Time” and “Drag Kids,” a drag show performed by kids ages 11 to 18 which encourages festival attendees to “come cheer them on as they bring drag to the younger generation,” according to the Pride website. The event is sponsored by several big names including Fred Meyer, Wells Fargo, Citibank, Target, Courtyard by Marriott and Walmart.

“Target proudly supports the Boise LGBTQIA+ community and its allies,” the Boise Pride guide stated. “We’re here to celebrate not just Pride month, but Pride all day every day.”

Aside from sponsoring the event as a whole, corporations sponsored several individual events such as the “Hometown Drag Spectacular,” which is featuring the “nation’s most talented drag queens” and put on by Citibank, the website showed. Fred Meyer is sponsoring the Pride Parade and a performance by Vassy, an Australian singer that has performed at other pride events throughout the country.

GottMilk, a drag-queen performer, and Dahli, the winner of “The World’s Next Drag Supermonster,” are main performers at the Pride festival which is also sponsored by Blue Cross of Idaho, T-Mobile, Colombia Bank, Go Go Squeez, AT&T, Macy’s, Enterprise and Chase Bank.

A performance by Slayyyter, “a self-made pop star who isn’t afraid to raise some hell,” is being sponsored by Mike’s Hard Lemonade, the website stated. Siena Liggins, a queer artist who offers a “safe space for listeners to break the binary,” is being sponsored by Jack Daniels.

The YMCA, University of Idaho and Procter and Gamble are also listed as sponsors of the Pride Festival. Several sponsors, including Amazon and DoorDash, will have promotional tables at the festival, the Pride guide showed.

“Boise’s Pride does not end with the festival – it is an ongoing opportunity to support this community throughout the year,” Boise Mayor Lauren McLean wrote in the Boise Pride Guide. “From patronizing our LGBTQIA+ owned businesses, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our community members fighting for equal rights, to celebrating together. Because it is in celebration that we’re reminded of the impact that the connections we have to each other, and our commitment to equality, has.”
