Dangling Electrical Wire Shuts Down New York State Thruway

CLARKSTOWN, NY – Are you wondering what all of the traffic was about and the Clarkstown area and the New York State Freeway yesterday?

On Wednesday the New York State Thruway was shut down due to a dangling electrical wire. According to police, a wire dangling over the NYS Thruway led to the shutdown of traffic in both directions.

Southbound traffic was diverted at Exit 14 (Nanuet) and Northbound traffic is being diverted at Exit 12 (West Nyack). The repairs took several hours and caused widespread traffic delays throughout the area.

Police shared a photo of the Thruway which was eerily barren and quiet during a typically heavily trafficked time of the day.

The road has since been reopened.
