Water Main Break in Newark Causes Traffic Delays on Route 21

NEWARK, NJ – on Thursday a water main break on Route 21 caused massive traffic delays in and around the city of Newark.

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé announced that a 6-inch water main break at Route 21, between Clay Street and the Rt. 280 ramp exit. The break caused major traffic delays in the area.

The good news for Newark residents is that the water main break does not affect residential water service in the city.

“Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and to plan alternate routes as repairs are being addressed,” Frage said


Traffic remained heavy in the area on Friday.
