Suspect Arrested for July Gas Station Shooting in Silver Spring

GAITHERSBURG, MD – A suspect has been arrested and charged with first-degree attempted murder and assault for a shooting that took place in July in Silver Spring.

Today, police announced they have arrested and charged 20-year-old Abdulfata Sani, of Silver Spring for a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, July 12, in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring.  

According to police, at approximately 8:06 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Dash In gas station for the report of a shooting. Officers did not locate a victim at the scene. 


“Shortly after the initial call, officers received a second call from an area hospital, for an individual who was dropped off at the hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound. It was determined that this was the victim from the initial shooting call,” police reported.

Sani was arrested on September 3, 2022, as he was getting off a plane at Baltimore Washington International Airport. He is currently being held without bond.
