Columbus Man Captures ‘Cat’ Thief Red Handed Under Pickup Truck

COLUMBUS, OH – Catalytic converter thieves have become brazen and seemingly unphased by the prospect of being caught and in Columbus, one such incident occurred in August.

On August 14, 2022, at approximately 5 a.m., the victim heard a noise outside and went to check on his vehicle parked in the 1700 block of Schrock Road. He observed the suspect underneath his pickup truck, attempting to cut off the catalytic converter. The victim shouted at the suspect who then ran away, leaving behind the catalytic converter.

While reviewing surveillance video of the incident, the vehicle’s owner discovered the suspect returned to the area in the early afternoon on that same day and appeared to be looking for the catalytic converter.
