Fugitive Wanted for Syracruse Murder Arrested During Domestic Call in Las Vegas

SYRACUSE, NY – A man wanted for a murder committed in Syracuse on June 20th was arrested by police in Las Vegas, Nevada, after officers responded to a home there for a domestic disturbance call.

Kavion Strong, 21, was wanted for a shooting death on Lodi Street that happened at around 9:34 pm on June 20th. Police determined Strong was the gunman who shot and killed Dasheem East, 20. First responders rushed East to the emergency room, where he was pronounced dead later that night.

Syracuse police canvassed the entire city in a manhunt to find Strong, but he had fled to an unknown location. On September 7th, Las Vegas police notified the Syracuse Police Department of Strong’s arrest.


SPD officers traveled to Las Vegas, taking Strong into custody on September 22nd, and returned the next where he was arranged on charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
