Holmdel police call off high-speed pursuit of stolen BMW

HOLMDEL, NJ – Holmdel police officers engaged in a pursuit of a 2021 BMW 850i that was reported as a stolen vehicle out of New York, but had to call it off after the vehicle fled officer at an excessive speed on the Garden State Parkway.

At around 10:30 am, police became aware of the stolen vehicle being operated on Hastings Road. The blue BMW convertible had New York tags, CPE-1986.

“Officers quickly arrived in the area, but the BMW was gone. A short time later the vehicle was reported to be on White Oak Ridge Rd in Middletown,” the department said in a statement.


Later, a Holmdel officer trying to find the vehicle observed the BMW recklessly driving through traffic on Red Hill Road.

The driver entered the northbound entrance of the Garden State Parkway, and the Holmdel officer gave up pursuit after being unable to catch up to the speeding car. The New Jersey State Police continued the tracking of the vehicle. At this time, it is unknown whether or not state troopers were able to identify any suspects in the incident.
