NEW YORK – A woman who was found dismembered in suitcases has been identified as D’Asia Johnson, 22. Johnson was found dismembered in two suitcases inside her Cypress Hills apartment on Linwood Street on Wednesday.

Police are now investigating the incident as a homicide.

The NYPD was called by neighbors who requested a wellness check at Johnson’s apartment after experiencing a foul order coming from the apartment.

Upon their arrival, police found a woman’s body chopped into pieces and stuffed into suitcases. That body was later identified as Johnson. Police reported Johnson has a restraining order against her boyfriend, who used to live with her in the apartment.

At this time, the investigation is active, and it is unknown whether or not the boyfriend is a suspect in her murder.

It was also unknown how long the body was in the apartment before being discovered. Police said the medical examiner’s office is continuing to investigate along with NYPD investigators.
