Homeless woman struck and killed by train at Penn Station

NEW YORK, NY – Two people were struck by a train inside New York City’s Penn Station, including one woman who was pronounced dead at the scene. The New York City Police Department said the homeless woman was near the tracks when a passing C train hit her and another person. The other unidentified victim was taken to the hospital, where they’re being treated for their injuries. At this time, the extent of their injuries is unknown.

The incident happened at around 6:25 a.m. Saturday morning on the 1/2/3 line.

Police said the operator of the subway train tried to stop, but was unable to slow the train before striking the woman. It is unknown at this time why the woman and the other person were on the tracks.


First Responders attempted to save the woman but were unsuccessful.
