Police continue to search for missing man who fell into the AuSable River

WILMINGTON, NY – New York state troopers are continuing their search for a man who fell into the Ausable River in Upstate New York on Thursday.

George M. Thevis was last seen in the area behind The Hungry Trout Resort located on NY 86 just south of Wilmington when it was reported that he fell into the river.

Multiple agencies launched a rescue effort but were unable to locate Thevis. A dive team entered the river to search for the missing man.

The New York State Police and the Essex County Sheriff’s Office are asking the public to contact them immediately if they have any information on the whereabouts of Mr. Thevis.

The investigation remains active, and the search for the missing man is ongoing.
