Palm Beach deputy shot by another deputy while being attacked by pit bull

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A Palm Beach County deputy was shot Monday afternoon while serving a search warrant at a home on the 5400 block of Eadie Place. The incident happened at around 12:45 pm when a pit bull at the residents charged one of the responding officers.

As second officer pulled his gun to shoot the dog, but after passing through the dog, the bullet hit the officer.

“Earlier today, one of our deputies got injured while assisting West Palm Beach PD with a search warrant. When entering the home, a pit bull charged and attacked one of our deputies,” the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office said after the incident. “A second deputy was forced to discharge his firearm, striking the pit bull while he was attacking the deputy. The bullet traveled through the pit bull, hitting the deputy.”

The deputy was taken to the hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
