JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Last month, the owners of the Jackson Skating Center announced the facility would be closing. This weekend, the rink hosted its final events under the old ownership, Roller Magic.

Rumors circulated in Jackson over the future of the rink. Some feared it would be torn down and replaced with a shopping center or apartment complex. Others feared the building would fall into disrepair and neglect if a new owner did not step in soon.

None of that is happening.

Today, it was announced that United Skates of America has taken over operations of the skating rink and has plans to reopen.

The rink is going to be in good hands. United Skates of America is a nationwide company that operates roller rinks in twelve states, including three in New Jersey, including Jackson.

The company has committed to upgrading the facility and rehiring the staff from Roller Magic’s business operations when they reopen.

At this point, there is no re-opening date, but it is expected to reopen before the winter holiday season.
