MANCHESTER TWP, NJJ – A 61-year-old Toms River resident was killed in a crash after a head-on-collision with a box truck on Route 70 in Manchester Township Thursday morning.

According to the Manchester Township Police Department, Sandra Wade, the driver of a Nissan Frontier pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The crash happened at around 6:46 am in the area of State Highway 70 near mile marker 34.

“Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed a Nissan Frontier facing north with the rear end partially in the westbound lanes of State Highway 70 and a Freightliner Medium Duty refrigerated box truck on the eastbound shoulder,” Manchester Township Police Department Public Information Officer Vincent Manco said. “The Nissan was observed to have extensive damage throughout the entire front end and the roof was observed to be torn off.”
