‘Be Concerned’: Joe Scarborough Warns Dems About The One Issue That Could Derail The Midterms

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough warned Democrats not to ignore concerns about crime Friday morning, saying it could propel Republicans to a win.

“Every time you bring that up, progressives are like, ‘It’s just as dangerous as Manhattan, Kansas.’ No, it’s not! No, it’s not. And if you’re a Democrat, you need to be concerned,” Scarborough said. “All of the murders, the chaos in the city, you know, our CIA buddy, Mark, guy with a long last name, he’s been in the most dangerous parts of the world in the CIA, he now drives around with Philly cops, they’re demoralized, said he fears for his life more in Philadelphia than he ever did in the most dangerous parts of Afghanistan.”

Crime in Philadelphia skyrocketed over the last two years, with a news anchor noting that more than 1,000 people had been killed in just 18 months in a contentious interview with District Attorney Len Krasner, who is facing an impeachment effort by state legislators.

“Why does this matter? Not because of Downtown Philadelphia, because Downtown Philadelphia will go Democratic, it always does, but the Philly suburbs that have been breaking Democratic…they’re starting to feel like – like New Yorkers felt in ’88, ’89,” Scarborough continued. “It is chaos there. Doesn’t matter what the D.A. says. Let him go out to Bucks County and explain how everything is safe and wonderful in Philly. It’s going to impact this race. I don’t know if Oz wins, but it’s going to keep it a lot closer than it should be.”

Additionally, crime in New York City also increased, with murders on the city’s subway reaching a 25-year high. Democratic Mayor Eric Adams of New York City blamed repeat offenders for the increase and is seeking changes to New York’s bail reform law, which passed in 2019.

Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Republican nominee to replace retiring Republican Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, raised the issue of crime in his race with Democratic Lt. Gov. John Fetterman. Fetterman boasted about efforts to grant parole, including to those convicted of murder.
