Newark smoke shop robbed at gunpoint, forced clerk into back room

NEWARK, DE – Two men were arrested after they robbed a Newark smoke shop early Thursday morning. Delaware police announced the arrest of Christopher Harmon, 31, and Andre Harmon, 28, after they robbed the Four Seasons Tobacco Outlet at 638 Plaza Drive.

According to police, at around 8:30 a.m., the two men entered the store to approach the employee behind the sales counter. One of the men forced his way behind the counter and pulled a knife on an employee, demanding money.

“Both suspects then forced the employee into a back room. While inside the back room, the second suspect displayed a handgun and threatened the victim,” the Delaware State Police said today in a statement. “Both suspects obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise and fled the scene. The victim was not injured during the incident.”

Police were able to identify the two suspects and caught up their vehicle in the area of Elkton Road and Route 4 to initiate a traffic stop. Both men were apprehended without incident.
