Utica man broke into apartment building, assaulted, robbed woman

UTICA, NY – A Utica woman was attacked and robbed inside the lobby of her Kennedy Plaza apartment building on Wednesday. When Utica police officers arrived on the scene, they quickly located a man matching the description of the suspect and detained him.

Officers then met with the female victim who told them she was inside her apartment building lobby when the man approached the door and forcibly entered her apartment.

The man began to walk around the woman’s apartment as she tried to get him to leave her, the man grabbed a duffle bag and ran into the hallway. The victim gave chase, attempting to take the bag away from her assailant, but was kicked in the chest by the suspect.


Police located the duffle bag in the possession of Jahquim Hoston, 24, of Utica. Hoston was charged with third-degree robbery and could be facing more charges.
