John and Jayme Taxin are preparing to open BigWife’s Mac n’ Cheese at 1017 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd in Scott’s Addition.
Charlotte, NC – Para
Upscale restaurant Para is inching closer to opening in South End. Hiring is ongoing and the transformation of that 2,300-square-foot space is almost complete, says Chet Desai, one of the partners.
Pittsburgh, PA – Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar
Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar, a restaurant announced this past February as coming to Station Square, is expected to open next month, according to an announcement. The restaurant, based in Ashville, North Carolina, is slated to open at 111 W. Station Square Drive in January in what will be the 18th location nationwide.
Carson City, NV – Eve’s Eatery
A new year will bring the realization of a personal professional goal for former Western Nevada College student Evelyn Espinoza. Evelyn, who studied business at WNC in 2019, and her husband, Francisco, will open Eve’s Eatery in downtown Carson City early in 2022.
Trumbull, CT – Guacamole’s Mexican Cuisine
There are lots of places that offer Tex-Mex food, but authentic Mexican cuisine is a rarity in Connecticut, according to Gabriela Velazquez, one of the owners of Guacamole’s Mexican Cuisine. Guacamole’s, which is set to open its third location at the Westfield Trumbull mall next month, will occupy the space left when Wahlburgers closed last year. The restaurant already has locations in Branford and at the Connecticut Post Mall in Milford.
Los Angeles, CA – Mother Wolf
The latest Italian project by Evan Funke, the same chef behind the always-packed Felix Trattoria in Venice, this new Hollywood restaurant will specialize in Roman cuisine, including a nearly crustless wood-fired pizza as well as the deceptively simple cacio e pepe—which Felix fans will recognize from the Westside spot’s more regionally varied menu. The restaurant’s name pays tribute to Rome’s origin story centered on brothers Remus and Romulus and Lupa Capitolina. Located in the Art Deco-style Citizen News building on Wilcox, Mother Wolf is slated to open in late December.
