Leader in technology for on-premise hospitality reveals significant uptick in beer volume, top brands and more insights from football’s season finale
Syracuse, NY (-) Sunday’s Big Game was played in Los Angeles and the Entertainment Capital of the World did not disappoint — especially when it came to raising a glass to celebrate a historic victory in SoFi Stadium!
In BeerBoard‘s 2022 Big Game Pour Report, the leader in technology for on-premise hospitality tracked draft beer sales for its clients on Feb. 13 and compared the stats to Feb. 7, 2021, and Feb. 2, 2020 — the dates of the two previous championship games. In total, BeerBoard’s clients generate over $1 billion in on-premise draft beer sales annually in the United States.
This year, the Big Game Pour Report highlighted the impact a championship game can have on the host city’s bars, brewers and markets as Los Angeles saw a massive increase of 341% in pour volume compared to 2021. As they celebrated an unforgettable night, Angelenos drink of choice was Modelo Especial, which was also the biggest mover among leading brands poured with a 70% increase nationally and 212% increase in the L.A. area. Nationally, the Big Game brought draft beer volume up 41% compared to 2021.
Despite not getting the result they wanted, the city of Cincinnati still celebrated its team’s first championship appearance in 33 years with a 55% increase in pour volume compared to 2021. For The Queen City, Bud Light took the crown for preferred draft beer. This doesn’t come as a surprise as Bud Light also took the top spot nationally and saw an increase of 18% in pour volume.
