Mike Lee Calls His 2016 Vote For ‘Democrat’ Evan McMullin A ‘Huge Mistake’

Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah called his 2016 vote for Evan McMullin “a huge mistake” during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.”
“You are right about my vote in 2016,” McMullin told host Shannon Bream. “I was wrong, I didn’t believe President Trump would do the things he promised to do and I was sore over how my colleagues had been treated during the election cycle. That vote was a huge mistake and would be huge mistake for my fellow Utahans to vote for Evan McMullin today.”
McMullin garnered less than 1% of the vote during his 2016 run, but garnered 21.5% of the vote in Utah, according to Ballotpedia. He received the Democratic party endorsement for the Senate race in April, CNN reported.

“Evan McMullin is a Democrat. He’s been endorsed by the Democratic Party,” Lee said. “He’s raised $2.5 million in the last quarter alone on ActBlue, the Democrat donor network, He spent $1.6 million feeding it right back into the Democratic-industrial complex. He supported democratic policies.”
“If it quacks like a duck, if it walks like a duck and it has webbed feet like a duck, in this case, it’s a Democrat, and that’s what Evan McMullin is. Utahns don’t want more of Joe Biden’s policies…that are costing them dearly. The average Utah family is shelling out $949 a month every month just for what they need to live on because of Biden’s inflation,” Lee continued.
The Consumer Price Index increased 8.2% year-to-year in September after rising by 8.3% in August, 8.6% in July, 9.1% in June and 8.5% in May. Experts, including former Obama administration official Steven Rattner, claim that spending packages like the American Rescue Plan, that Biden signed into law in March 2021, helped send inflation to levels not seen for decades.
“Evan McMullin supports Joe Biden and his policies, he would be a reliable democratic vote as he is the Democratic candidate in this race,” Lee concluded.
