‘Let’s Set The Record Straight’: Watters Fires Back After Newsom Criticized Him For ‘Aiding And Abetting’ Pelosi Attack

Fox News host Jesse Watters called out Gov. Gavin Newsom of California Monday night after the Democrat criticized Watters for “aiding and abetting” the attack on Paul Pelosi.

“Let’s set the record straight: Paul Pelosi got drunk and nearly killed someone with his car,” Watters said, referring to Pelosi’s June arrest for DUI. “And then the Napa County DA made it go away. We had to wait forever to get to the bottom of that and there is still questions we have. But Gavin Newsom thinks if you mock a Democrat it puts them on a target list.”

“I have seen the dehumanization of Nancy Pelosi. I don’t think anyone has been dehumanized like she has consistently,” Newsom said during an interview with CBS that aired Monday evening. “I watched this one guy, Jesse Watters or something, on Fox News what he has been saying about Paul Pelosi the last five, six months mocking him consistently. Don’t tell me that’s not aiding and abetting all of this, of course it is.”

DePape allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, early Friday morning with a hammer at his home, demanding to know where Speaker Pelosi was.

Watters then tore into Newsom, who he called “not very smart” while pointing out that Pelosi’s alleged attacker, 42-year-old David DePape, was reportedly in the United States illegally and that California was a “sanctuary state.”

“If anything, Gavin Newsom has done more to aid and abet this attack on Pelosi than anybody. David DePape is a homeless criminal and an illegal alien. DePape overstayed his visas for years. Committed crimes,” Watters said. “California is a sanctuary state, so he was never deported. So let me ask you a question. Who is more at fault here? The governor who didn’t deport the deranged drug addict felon who thinks is he Jesus or the news guy who fairly covered Paul’s DUI case? I think we both know the answer.”

Watters then noted the media and Democrats, including President Joe Biden, sought to blame Republicans in general for the attack on Pelosi, and hammered the media for the lack of similar outrage when a California man allegedly attempted to kill Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh in June.

“Do you know who also had zip ties? Nicholas Roske, sound familiar? That was the liberal fanatic who tried assassinate Brett Kavanaugh. He also had duct tape, a hammer, a gun and a crowbar. But for some reason the media forgot all about that story,” Watters said. “The Democrats accused Kavanaugh of racism, gang rape, drugging women, then leaked that he was going to overturn Roe v. Wade and a mad man zipped across the country ready to kill. Did the media blame themselves? Did the media tone down their language? No. The media dropped the story like a bad habit.”
