Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake’s campaign headquarters received white powder inside an envelope, a campaign spokesperson said, with law enforcement responding Sunday.

First responders were called to a Phoenix office building where Lake’s campaign headquarters was located early Sunday morning due to “suspicious items,” Phoenix police told multiple outlets. Fire authorities said the items were envelopes, and a Lake campaign spokesperson claimed a staffer found “suspicious white powder” inside one when they opened it.

The incident has not resulted in any injuries, but the spokesperson told Fox 10 that the staff member who opened the envelope “is currently under medical supervision.”

The FBI and bomb squad units were called to the scene as well, and police are investigating the matter, according to Fox 10. The campaign office was shut down, and the spokesperson said the envelopes were “sent to professionals at Quantico for examination.”
