JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Township of Jackson celebrated Veterans Day by hosting a memorial service for the township’s veterans past and present.

An opening prayer service was hosted by Rabbi Avi Schnall who reminded residents that we should never forget those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for America.

“We shall never forget these individuals,” Schnall said. “That we are here today standing on their shoulders. We are here today with the gift of freedom and the gift of democracy only because they were willing and able to protect it, fight for it, and go to war for their freedoms. We pray to God to protect our veterans.”

The event was hosted at the Veterans Memorial Garden, a project that was begun by former Jackson Township Councilman Ken Bressi, a United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran and Charlie Garofano, a retired veteran.

“It’s always an honor and privilege to stand before such dedication and heroes,” Mayor Michael Reina said. “Jackson Township honors our veterans every day, not just on Veterans Day.”

Reina thanked Bressi for his service and for the work he has done over the past 10 plus years at the Veterans Memorial Garden.

Bressi thanked Jackson veterans for their service and reminded that the memorial garden is a tribute to all veterans who served in the armed forces.
