Impaired driver crashes through front door of Toms River home, into living room

On Monday, November 20, 2022, at approximately 11:35 PM, police and fire units were dispatched to Frann Road for a reported motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle into a house.

TOMS RIVER, NJ – A 24-year-old Toms River man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after driving his pickup truck through the front door of a home.

Police said the truck entered the home and made it into the living room. The crash was reported shortly after 11:35 pm on Frann Road.

Police arrested and charged Kevin E. Cannon, 24, of Toms River with driving under the influence, reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane. Detectives determined Cannon was traveling north on Frann Road when he drove off the roadway and through the front door of the residence, ultimately coming to rest in the living room. 


A number of fire departments responded to the residence, as well as Freedom Towing, in order to remove the vehicle. Additionally, the Building Department responded and determined that the home was unsafe. Mr. Cannon was issued citations for driving under the influence, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. In accordance with John’s Law, his vehicle has been impounded. There were no injuries to the homeowners at the time of the incident. The incident is currently being investigated by Officer Nicholas Lugo.
