Skeletal remains of missing 17-year-old found in Takoma Park

Prince George's County Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are working to identify and arrest the suspect(s) who killed a teenage girl in Takoma Park. The victim is 17-year-old Rosa Diaz-Santos of Greenbelt.

GREENBELT CITY, MD – The skeletal remains of a 17-year-old girl reported missing in Greenbelt on September 22nd have been found in Takoma Park, the Greenbelt City Police Department announced on Monday.

17-year-old Rosa Diaz-Santos was last seen a month ago leaving Franklin Park on her way to school at Eleanor Roosevelt High School at around 7:40 am.

According to police, last Tuesday, at approximately 12:30 pm, skeletal remains were discovered in a wooded area near the 1600 block of Drexel Street.


An autopsy ruled the death a homicide, and this weekend, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the identity of the victim as Rosa Diaz-Santos.

Police do not have any suspects in custody and are continuing their investigation at this time.
