BUFFALO, NY – A Buffalo dog daycare worker who beat a small dog to death while working has been sentenced to six months in jail.

26-year-old Jarrod Dillman of Buffalo, while working for a daycare business in Buffalo in 2019, was accused of causing the death of a three-year-old Havanese mix while the dog was in his care.

“The defendant admitted to repeatedly kicking the dog and throwing the dog against a wall. A necropsy determined that the dog, named “Alessio,” died as a result of blunt force trauma,” the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said.

According to court documents, Dillman pleaded guilty to one count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals (Class “E” felony).

“As part of his sentence today, Judge Boller issued a final order that prohibits the defendant from owning or caring for any animals for the next five years,” the court ruled.

The day after he pleaded guilty to the charges, he attempted to rob a bank on Elmwood Avenue but was rejected by the teller.

Dillman pleaded guilty to one count of attempted robbery in that matter.
