Do you recognize him? Newark police searching for burglary suspect

Just before 2:45 a.m., Police responded to Springfield Tire, located at 622 Springfield Avenue, on a call of a burglary.

NEWARK, NJ – Police in Newark are hoping the public can help detectives identify a suspect wanted in a burglary that took place on Sunday.

Fritz G. Fragé, Director of Newark Public Safety, is seeking public assistance in identifying the male suspect pictured below in connection with the burglary of a business on November 27.

A burglary was reported at Springfield Tire, located at 622 Springfield Avenue, just before 2:45 a.m. Video surveillance shows the suspect climbed the fence on the South 15th Street side of the business and cut off the padlocks on the shop’s exterior lift gate using a red bolt cutter. After entering the business through the front door, the suspect stole $300.00 from the cash register. After leaving the business through the front door, he climbed the fence on the south side of 15th Street and fled northbound.


The police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying this suspect, described as a black male, 5’5″ to 5’7″, wearing a black North Face jacket, a white shirt with a graphic design on the front, and red sweatpants. The suspect also wore white Jordan sneakers, a black Nike ski mask, and black gloves.
