NEW YORK, NY – A Brooklyn man is dead after he made the unfortunate decision to bum a cigarette from a stranger on West 42nd Street Tuesday in the Hell’s Kitchen section of the city.

A 24-year-old man was killed in a fight that broke out when he stopped to ask a stranger for a cigarette, according to the NYPD.

Walking with his girlfriend in front of a parking garage at 11 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Carlos Rosario had just been trying to bum a cigarette off the group of three men before they stabbed and robbed him.

One of the men started questioning Rosario, which sparked an argument that ended with that man stabbing Rosario in the torso. Rosario, a resident of Brooklyn, was taken to Bellevue Hospital and pronounced dead.
