Baltimore mom wins $250k on lottery scratch off ticket

BALTIMORE, MD – Isabel Sandoval, 35, of Baltimore, was rewarded by Lady Luck after she went shopping for her husband and walked away with a prize for herself.

Isabel purchased beer for her husband at 6400 Eastern Liquors in Baltimore about three weeks ago. While there, she purchased three scratch-off tickets for Lady Luck. As a result of a recommendation from a friend, she began playing the $10 game recently.

“I actually stopped playing it for a bit because I wasn’t winning much,” she said. “I told my friend, “It’s not for me.”

Isabel, however, decided to try her luck with the game again. When she returned home from the store, she scratched off the instant tickets and went into shock. An instant ticket won the top prize of $250,000!

“I knew right away it was a winner because I scratched off the horseshoe,” she said. “But, I could not believe the prize I saw.”

She showed the lucky scratch-off to her husband, who confirmed her win. Isabel is a warehouse worker for AirBoss Defense Group. In addition to informing her children, the mother of five and grandmother of one also shared the exciting news with them.

She was carried away by her excitement all the way to the Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, where she claimed the $250,000 prize this week. Her plan is to use some of the winnings to help her mother, who lives in Mexico, and to save the remainder.

In addition to her, her lucky Lottery retailer has also won. The Baltimore City business located at 6400 Eastern Avenue in Baltimore will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning Lady Luck instant ticket.

The Lady Luck game, which went on sale in September, still has three unclaimed $250,000 top prizes, four $20,000 and 25 $10,000 remaining prizes. Players can also win prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
