Man threatened to kill liquor store worker after refusing to give discount

LINDEN, NJ – An irate customer got angry at a liquor store employee in Linden and threatened to kill them for not offering a discount.

According to the Linden Police Department, On November 30, at approximately 5:15 p.m., an unknown black male entered Beno’s Liquor store located at 102 North Wood Avenue and attempted to purchase a small bottle of liquor.

After becoming irate he began throwing bottles of wine at the employee.

“The suspect reportedly did not have enough money, and when the employee refused to sell the liquor at a discounted price the suspect became irate,” the Linden Police Department said. “He allegedly threatened to kill the employees and threw several large bottles of red wine at the employees causing injuries and an estimated $3,000 dollars in damage before he grabbed a clear plastic container of small liquor bottles and fled the store.”


Police are asking the public for assistance in identifying the man after releasing video surveillance photos on Saturday.
