CUMBERLAND CITY, MD – Cumberland police officers investigating a disturbance in the area of Gateway Terrace on Monday observed a male slam a woman to the ground during an argument.

Cumberland City Police officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Gateway Terrace on Monday, following a report of a disturbance.

According to the Cumberland City Police Department, the officers observed a male and female arguing in the driveway of the house upon arrival.

“A male subject was observed throwing a female victim to the ground by the officers,” the department said.

The male was identified as Travis Maurice Peck, 33, of Cumberland.

An investigation revealed several verbal and physical confrontations had taken place throughout the day between Peck and the victim. The victim alleged that Peck assaulted them numerous times throughout the day.

“As the victim attempted to leave the residence, Peck took the victim’s phone and would not let her leave,” the department said. “Consequently, Peck was arrested and transported to Police Headquarters.”

He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance, where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.
