SOMERS POINT, NJ – A Somers Point wife shot and killed her husband in their bedroom, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. David Wigglesworth, 57, was found in his bedroom suffering from at least one gunshot wound when police arrived Christmas night at around 10:19 pm.

Wigglesworth, a local GOP political activist, was pronounced dead at the scene inside the couple’s apartment.

His wife, 51-year-old Marylue Wigglesworth, was arrested and charged with murder. She was processed at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

David Wigglesworth was an active supporter of Republican candidates in Atlantic County and in 2019, he unsuccessfully ran for office for a seat on the township committee.

Friends and family members say the couple appeared to be happy from their social media posts.

“Our hearts are heavy with the loss of David Wigglesworth. He was a dedicated member of the party and worked tirelessly to support many Republican campaigns over the years, including his own. We send our prayers to his son and his extended family,” the Hamilton Republican Committee said in a statement after learning of David’s death.
