Youth football treasurer stole $74,000 from program, prosecutor

MOUNT OLIVE, NJ – The former treasurer of the Mount Olive Junior Marauder Football Association has been arrested and charged with stealing as much as $74,000 from the youth football program.

Shawn J. Collins, 49, was arrested and charged with third-degree theft by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office on Friday.

According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, during the month of October, the Mount Olive Township Police Department began an investigation into the alleged theft of monies from the Mount Olive Township Junior Marauder Football Association by Collins, the former treasurer of the Booster Club. 


“The investigation determined that the defendant made unauthorized withdrawals of money from the Booster Club bank account, as well as failing to deposit monies collected from events and concession sales,” Carrol said. ” The total amount of monies stolen was found to be approximately $74,000.”
