Sixth dead whale washes up at the Jersey Shore as environmentalists blame Murphy’s offshore wind farm

A week after a humpback whale washed ashore in Atlantic City, a second one washed up dead at North End Beach in Brigantine.

On Thursday, the 25 foot long whale was found upside down in the surf just off the beach. Due to the water conditions and high tide, officials were unable to access the whale for testing.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is hoping to perform tests and necropsy during the next low tide.

Now, some are calling for Governor Phil Murphy to cease work on an offshore wind farm in the location where at least 7 dead whales have been reported dead at the Jersey Shore in recent months.

In the past five weeks alone, six whales of washed ashore and climate groups such as Clean Ocean Action believe the deaths could be related to the massive offshore wind farm under construction off the coast of Atlantic City.
