76-year-old man shot in Reading recovering at hospital

READING, PA – A 76-year-old man was shot during an armed robbery while walking down Wood Street in Reading Friday evening.

At around 5:30 pm. Reading police officers arrived on the scene after receiving reports of a shooting in the area.

When they arrived, they found a 76-year-old man suffering from a single gunshot wound.


“It was learned through the course of the investigation that the 76-year-old victim was walking to a nearby store when he was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown Hispanic male,” the Reading Police Department said Saturday morning. “During the course of the robbery, the suspect shot the victim once and then fled the area on foot. The 76-year-old victim is currently in stable condition at an area hospital.”
