BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Port of Buffalo and Port of Champlain, N.Y. made multiple arrests over this past weekend. The Port of Buffalo also encompasses the Peace Bridge and Lewiston Bridge, both of which are border crossings with Canada. Three arrests were made for various offenses at the Port of Buffalo, while an additional arrest was made at the Port of Champlain for an individual that was caught driving a stolen vehicle.
On Saturday, as part of processing at the Peace Bridge crossing, Enied Yeriel Benitez Fuentes, a 22-year-old United States citizen was determined to have an active National Crime Information Center (NCIC) warrant for felony Aggravated Assault from Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.
Then, on Sunday, Peace Bridge CBP officers encountered Clayton Bruce, a 36-year-old United States citizen with an (NCIC) felony warrant for larceny from Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. After processing and confirming the warrants, both subjects were turned over to the city of Buffalo Police Department for extradition.
Across the state, CBP officers in Champlain, encountered Albert Burton III, a 29-year-old United States citizen that was returned to the U.S. by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers. The subject had attempted to enter Canada in a 2010 Audi Q5 that was reported stolen earlier in the day out of Rutland, Vermont. After processing, the subject and vehicle were turned over to the New York State Police.
Finally, on Monday, CBP officers assigned at the Lewiston, N.Y. Bridge crossing, inspected Anderson Javier Amaya Rozo, a 43-year-old citizen of Colombia and United States Lawful Permanent Resident. A subsequent inquiry revealed that the subject had an NCIC warrant for Third Degree Grand Theft and Dealing in Stolen Property from St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. After processing and confirming the warrant, the subject was turned over to the New York State Police for extradition.
“During these busy holiday weekends, our CBP officers maintain their vigilance to ensure that wanted criminals are taken into custody,” said Buffalo Assistant Director of Field Operations Richard Roberts. “These arrests highlight our commitment to working alongside our law enforcement partners to keep our communities and country safe.”
