New Year’s Day double stabbing suspect arrested in the Bronx

NEW YORK, NY – A 52-year-old man has been arrested for murder in connection with a double stabbing he committed on New Year’s Day in the Bronx.

Shortly after the New Year, at 3:54 am, Ira Shane is alleged to have stabbed a man and woman in the area of 1850 Grand Concourse in the Bronx.

Police officers at the scene learned that a 63-year-old man with stab wounds to the chest and a 38-year-old woman also with stab wounds was taken to the hospital prior to their arrival.


The man was later pronounced dead. He was later identified as Sergio Garcia, 63.

An investigation by detectives with eh NYPD’s 44th Precinct determined that the victims were involved in a dispute with an unknown individual who stabbed them in front of 1335 College Avenue. There are no arrests at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
