Triple Shooting In D.C. Leaves One Woman Dead

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Just before 9 pm last night, a shooting on the 5000 Block of Benning Road in Southeast D.C left one woman dead, and a 15-year-old and another male victim injured.

The Washington, D.C. Metro Police were called at 8:51 to investigate a shooting. When police arrived, they discovered a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her head. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she died from her injuries. A 15-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder and another male victim was shot in the leg.

According to police, it appeared that the suspect opened fire near the Moon Star Carry-Out striking the 15-year-old and the adult male. The 15-year-old pulled out a gun and began firing back.


The woman who was in the carry-out appeared not to be the intended target. Her identity has not been released at this time. Police have not concluded whose bullets hit the woman.

The 15-year-old will be charged with carrying a pistol without a license and other gun charges after he is released from the hospital.
