NEW CASTLE, DE – A road rage incident in New Castle on Route 295 got out of control, ending with shots being fired by one of the combatants.

According to the Delaware State Police, at around 11:45 am on Wednesday, troopers responded to a road rage incident that started on Interstate 295 and ended on North DuPont Highway.

“Investigators learned that the 54-year-old male victim followed a white sedan off of northbound Interstate 295 onto northbound Route 13 to call the police after subjects inside the white sedan were throwing objects at his vehicle,” DSP said today. “The victim stopped in the left turn lane of northbound Route 13 at the intersection just north of Baylor Boulevard behind two vehicles, a maroon sedan, and a white sedan.”

At that time, a passenger from each of the vehicles then exited and approached the victim’s vehicle.

The passenger of the maroon vehicle involved in the incident pulled a gun and fired two shots at the victim. The victim was able to flee and was not struck.

The suspects’ vehicles were last seen traveling southbound on Route 13 and taking the exit for southbound Interstate 295.
