Man wanted for strangling woman in Hanover arrested

HANOVER, MD – An individual wanted for allegedly strangling a woman in Hanover has been captured by police.

Joshua Beckett, 30, was arrested for strangling a woman near Dorchester Boulevard after attempting to flee from responding officers. Police used tasers to subdue Beckett as he tried to reach for his backpack.

Police used non-deadly force to subdue and place Beckett into custody.

Beckett and the female suspect were known to each other.


“While searching the backpack, a loaded Glock 19 with an extended magazine and a small amount of CDS were recovered,” the Anne Arundel County Police Department reported. “Upon further investigation, the handgun was found to be reported stolen from North Carolina. The suspect was charged accordingly.”
