Police charge man who pulled gun during fit of road rage

NEW CASTLE, DE – A 31-year-old man was arrested for aggravated menacing after pulling a gun on another driver during a fit of road rage.

The Delaware State Police arrested 31-year-old Jaiquone Watson of New Castle, Delaware for aggravated menacing as a result of their investigation.

According to police, on Thursday, at around 3:52 pm, a 51-year-old Dover man reported that he was driving southbound on South Dupont Highway near the Pulaski Highway when a dark-colored Acura began tailgating him.


“When the Acura was behind him, the victim saw the driver holding a handgun and motioning for him to move out of the way,” police said. “The victim complied, exited the highway, called the police, and gave a description of the car as it continued southbound.”

Later, troopers conducted a traffic stop of the suspect’s vehicle on Route 1. When they contacted the driver, identified as Jaiquone Watson, troopers saw a handgun on the front passenger seat. Watson was subsequently taken into custody without incident.
