Clifton police reported that

CLIFTON, NJ – A 15-year-old with a previous arrest for leading police in a pursuit in Paterson was at it again this week, this time in Clifton.

On Tuesday, police identified a stolen 2010 Accura on Lexington Avenue and initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle accelerated and attempted to flee.

According to police, the pursuit took place through the eastside streets of Clifton and eventually into the Passaic.

“During the chase, the driver of the stolen vehicle was driving so recklessly, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an unoccupied (parked) vehicle on President Street,” police said. “All four occupants of the stolen vehicle fled on foot. The driver, who was wearing a black ski mask, was observed tucking a weapon of some sort into his waistband as he fled.”

Officers focused on the armed suspect and apprehended him a block away. He resisted arrest, but was taken into custody.

The weapon he tried to conceal was later identified as a knife. The three other occupants of the vehicle got away.

The remaining three suspects were able to evade capture. However, the investigation is ongoing.

Clifton police noted the suspect also had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest stemming from a similar incident in Paterson.
