BALTIMORE, MD – A former teacher at the Gilman School, a private boys school in Baltimore was terminated last month after officials learned of several ‘suspicious relationships’ with past and present students, according to police.

On Friday, police announced the arrest of Christopher Bendann on sexual abuse charges.

“In January 2023, detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit were alerted by Child Protective Services that a teacher at the Gilman School had been terminated for inappropriate and suspicious relationships with current and former students,” the Baltimore County Police Department said today. “An investigation led to the discovery of at least one victim who provided information about sexual abuse by the former teacher/advisor, Christopher Bendann. On Friday, February 3, 2023, the Baltimore County Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at Bendann’s residence in the 100 block of Stanmore Road in Towson.”

Bendann was arrested and charged with several counts, including sexual abuse of a minor and second-degree rape.

Police suspect there may be other victims involved in this case and are asking the public to report any suspicious behavior.

At this time, this is an ongoing investigation. Detectives believe there are several victims of Bendann’s abuse and urge them to come forward. Anyone with information about these crimes can contact the Crimes Against Children Unit at 410-887-7720 or Child Protective Services at 410-887-2469.
