Gun found on 15-year-old DuVal High School Student

LANHAM, MD – Police officers with the Prince George’s County Police Department confirmed today that a student was caught with a handgun on school property at DuVal High School early Wednesday morning.

According to police, the 15-year-old student is facing charges of being in possession of a handgun on school property.

At around 10:45 am, officers arrived at DuVal High School, located in the 9800 block of Good Luck Road in Lanham at around 10:45 am.

“On February 8, 2023, at approximately 10:45 am, P”rince George’s County Public Schools security personnel discovered a student was in possession of a handgun,” PGCPD said in a statement. “Security personnel located the weapon during the search of the student. The School Resource Officer was notified and assumed the investigation.”

The student was charged with a handgun on a person, a dangerous weapon on school property, possession of a firearm by a minor, and a loaded handgun on person.
